The Collection
Library
In addition to the instruments the Bate Collection has a considerable library concerning the history and development of musical instruments.
The books are all catalogued on OLIS and can be consulted in the Bate Collection. Appointments to use the library can be made by contacting the staff on bate.collection@music.ox.ac.uk.
We have a selection of historical instrumental Tutors and Methods. Lists of these can be found through the links to the left.
There is also a library of sheet music scored for instruments in the collection.
